After almost nine years together, two children, and a medical odyssey fighting breast cancer, Melissa and Tammy Etheridge have split up.
"Melissa and Tammy Etheridge are saddened to announce that they are now separated," Melissa's rep told People.
The couple added in a statement: "We ask for consideration and respect for our family as we go through this difficult period."
Tammy (formerly Tammy Lynn Michaels, an actress who rose to fame on the WB series Popular) and Melissa tied the knot in 2003, and Etheridge, 48, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004. A few years later, Tammy, 35, gave birth to twins -- son Miller and daughter Johnnie Rose -- in 2006.
Etheridge also has two children, Bailey, 13, and Beckett, 11, from her previous relationship with Julie Cypher.
