Melissa McCarthy Proves Glamour Is Overrated on 'SNL'

From taking face plants to donning bad wigs, the fearless actress is one of our favorite Saturday Night Live hosts!

If Saturday Night Live is the place celebrities go to prove they can laugh at themselves, then Melissa McCarthy has taken it to a whole new level. Hosting for the second time on Saturday, the Identity Theft star out-funnied even the regular cast members. Unlike most guest hosts -- even the great Justin Timberlake! -- the comedienne wasn't worried about looking like a big fancy star. We love her totally fearless approach to comedy!

Take her opening monologue. Instead of doing the usual series of corny topical jokes, Melissa teetered out on super-high heels and did two Jim Carrey-worthy face plants. It wasn't glamorous, but why should it be? We've all seen Melissa looking fabulous on the red carpet, and she knows that SNL is the place to throw caution to the wind. Other actresses, take note!

And that was just the beginning! In the obligatory fake-low-budget-ad sketch, "The Art of the Encounter," Melissa wore a horrific '90s wig and chugged an entire punch bowl.

She fended off fat jokes by playing a wannabe professional pizza-eater...

...and showed off her dance moves while playing a pitch-perfect dumb blonde.

Want more? Of course you do. Watch the whole episode below. And here's hoping it's not too long before McCarthy lands in the five-timers club.
