Entertainment Weekly reports that Heather was in negotiations to reprise her role, but pulled out after realizing "there wasn't a way to bring her back that made sense."
Made sense? It's Melrose Place! It doesn't have to make sense --ever!
So, as of now, Heather won't be joining Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Katie Cassidy in the new show, which premieres this fall.
I don't get it. It's not like Heather is doing anything -- and she really wasn't ever more of a success than when she was living in the Melrose apartments -- but maybe she's still taking time to fight the demons that sent her to rehab last year.
That would be the only feasible excuse.
