Member Tips for Pet Enrichment

• When I leave for work, I fill a Kong toy with kibble, slather the hole with peanut butter and then plug it with a marshmallow. --iVillager dustbunny48

• On days that he's been really good, I let him walk me. I call it a sniff-fest. He gets to go wherever he wants (without putting himself or others in danger), and he gets to sniff as long as he wants. --iVillager goldiegrrrrl

• I soak all of my cat toys in a Rubbermaid container full of catnip. I rotate the toys every week and they love it. --iVillager lcni

• I create a doggie scavenger hunt. While he's outside, I put little treats in all of the places that I know he frequents (his water bowl, near the garbage can, etc. It's really fun to watch how excited he gets to find food! --iVillager goldiegrrrrl

• I give my pets "goodnight treats." They look forward to them every night. --iVillager taurus29

• My cats are fascinated by bubbles. I usually blow the bubbles in the kitchen so cleanup is quick on my kitchen floor. --iVillager nysparkle

• Every morning when I go to the basement I bring Misha's little rubber ball with us. He gets so excited because he knows what's coming next. I bounce the ball along the floor and it hits the wall and he jumps up and blocks it with his paws. Sometimes he does gigantic leaps in the air. He loves our playtime together. --iVillager greykits

• We take our dog to the pet store to pick out a new toy. I'll take a couple down off the rack for him to look at. The one he noses the most comes home with us. --iVillager huntress_80

• During the summer months, we'll hang our birds' cages up outside so they can spend some time listening to the wild birds while we're on the deck. --iVillager twoki

• We occasionally make our cats a bowl of catnip tea. They love the tea once it has cooled down and when the tea bag is dry, it makes a wonderful toy. --iVillager susanatpp

• Our cat Casey loves ice. When we open the freezer he jumps up and begs for us to throw a little piece on the floor. He bats it around until it melts. --iVillager cmleslieh

• Our dog loves sleepovers at grandma's house. On the weekends my mom takes Hooch over to play with her puppy. It's great to watch them play and it tires them out and they sleep like little angels. --iVillager huntress_80

• I believe the most important thing in making our pet's life special is time. It doesn't matter what you do, as long as you do it together. --iVillager whispersmom
