EXCLUSIVE: Michael Douglas' Costars React to His Cancer Diagnosis

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps stars Susan Sarandon and Josh Brolin and director Oliver Stone offer their support

Last month, people everywhere were shocked to hear that Michael Douglas, 65, had been diagnosed with throat cancer -- including the actor's Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps costars and director.

iVillage caught up with Susan Sarandon, Josh Brolin and Oliver Stone to discuss Douglas' condition and hear their reactions to the heart-breaking news. We asked each of them: Were you shocked to hear about Michael Douglas' cancer diagnosis?

Susan Sarandon:
"Yeah, of course I was. I was also very pleased to see how well he's doing and how much support he has and how loved he is -- all the things that I think will make it much easier for him to do well at this time."

Josh Brolin:
"I was, and I called him immediately and talked to him. He seems to be in great spirits. I respect him. It doesn't matter what's happening -- he's a constant professional and he's got a great outlook on life and hopefully that will help."

Oliver Stone:
"Not shocked, it's the nature of life. I admire his courage, the fact that's he's hung in there. We didn't know about it because we were at the Cannes Film Festival and there was no sign of it. He worked very professionally all the way, and then recently this came up. But he never gave up on the film. It must be difficult."
