The Santa Monica Trial
Nearly two years after he'd been accused, for the second time, of child molestation charges, Jackson was brought to trial in Santa Monica, California in January 2005. The trial became a media circus, which included Jackson nearly forfeiting bail when he was an hour late for court, accusations that Jackson gave his underage Neverland guests alcohol (which he allegedly called "Jesus juice") and porn magazines, and Jackson's daily arrivals to the courthouse, surrounded by throngs of fans, many carrying signs of support. Ultimately, in June 2005, Jackson was found not guilty on all charges, but the Bashir documentary and the latest trial, on the heels of the 1993 molestation charges, the drastic changes in Jackson's physical appearance, the marriages and divorces, the mysterious circumstances surrounding the births of his children and the admissions from Jackson himself about sleeping in the same bed with underage Neverland guests, continued to chip away at many fans' support of Jackson.
