It's a sad day for Michael Jackson's family, friends, and fans across the globe. The King of Pop's memorial service will be held today at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, giving those Michael left behind a chance to say goodbye.
Prior to the public service, around 100 people closest to Michael gathered for a private memorial at Forest Lawn. Law enforcement officials have decided to escort the body to the Staples Center following the small ceremony. The LAPD's SWAT team will be present, using a "heavy motorcade" for transport. The 10 Range Rovers used in the motorcade were picked up at Encino Range Rover last night. The O'Gara Coach Company in Beverly Hills also allowed the Jackson family to use 3 cars. Everything will be returned to the dealership tonight and no one will be charged for using the vehicles. Helicopters will also be on hand in case of any safety issues during the escort.
Hopefully those in attendance will be respectful of Michael's memory and won't create any unnecessary safety hazards. For those in mourning, today will be hard enough as it is.
