Michael Jackson's Son Joins 'Entertainment Tonight' -- What Would Dad Think?

The boy who was shielded from the public eye is now 16 and wants a career in movies

Michael Jackson's 16-year-old son Prince Michael Jackson is making his first professional foray in front of the camera as a correspondent for Entertainment Tonight. For his ET debut, Prince Michael interviewed James Franco, Zach Braff and director Sam Raimi while they were promoting their new film, Oz the Great and Powerful.

Prince Michael definitely looks older than his 16 years in this clip. He attributes his maturity to his father, saying, "That was all thanks to my dad. He raised me right." As the eldest of Jackson's three children, Prince Michael's career decisions will likely pave the way for what his siblings, Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince Michael Jackson II, do after him. And what does he want to do for a living? Delve into the movie business, of course.

"I'm looking to become well-rounded as a producer, director, screenwriter and actor," he says.

While it seems like Prince Michael has taken the right steps toward that lifestyle -- he even asks Braff, Franco and Raimi for advice for a young up-and-comer -- we can't help but notice that this is exactly the direction in which his father didn't want his children to go. Jackson used to shield his kids from the public -- before the singer's death, we barely saw any photos of them without masks or veils covering their faces -- and did his best to keep them from scrutiny. Of course, Jackson's three children are stars just because of their father's legacy. Should we be surprised that they are now choosing to seek stardom on their own?

At least Prince Michael is much older than his father was when he first entered the public awareness. The 16-year-old has had to deal with pretty much every sort of media intrusion possible during his life, so he is more prepared than most for living in the spotlight. We still can't help but feel he doesn't have anyone around him to act as a great role model as he ventures into his dream career at such a young age, but we do hope he manages to become the "well-rounded" professional of his dreams.
