Michelle Monaghan Opens Up About Skin Cancer Scare

The actress says her husband convinced her to get a suspicious mole checked out: "I'm so grateful he noticed it"

When it comes to cancer, Michelle Monaghan is fortunate to have such an observant husband. The actress tells Health magazine that her husband, Australian graphic designer Peter White, is the one who caught a strange-looking mole that turned out to be skin cancer.

"A few years ago I had a mole on the back of my calf, and he was adamant that I get it checked," Monaghan tells the November issue of Health. "In Australia, they're very aware of skin cancer. I finally went and it was skin cancer."

The Machine Gun Preacher actress, 35, adds that were it not for White's "keen eye," she might not have had her cancerous mole removed.

"I had quite the chunk taken out of my leg. I'm so grateful he noticed it," she said.

The down-side, she jokes, is that now she wonders "what other imperfections he's noticing" on her body. But it's pretty obvious her husband adores her. Proof?

"He gets me on every level. During 'that time of the month,'  he knows to bring me a Snickers bar. He's good like that!," she reveals.

He saved from her cancer and brings her chocolate? Sounds like Monaghan is married to a keeper.
