First Lady Michelle Obama stopped by The Tonight Show With Jay Leno last night, where she shared that her husband sings to her "all the time." When asked if she had known about the President's much-talked-about Al Green impersonation ahead of time, the First Lady said, "That was completely spontaneous, I didn't even hear about it until it got on YouTube. But he does have a beautiful voice and he sings to me all the time. He doesn't hesitate to show off his lungs to his wife."
By sharing intimate details about her marriage, Michelle Obama likely aided the president's re-election campaign. In one fell swoop she humanized her husband without being overly effusive--she did, after all, divulge that "anything we do is highly embarrassing" to her daughters. But Michelle's anecdotes went a long way in demonstrating the normalcy of her marriage, and how much she loves and supports (and teases!) her husband.
Leno also asked the First Lady if she had heard Romney's rendition of "America the Beautiful." Her response? "It's...beautiful. And it is America's song, it's a song that's meant to be sung by every American." Proving once again, Mrs. Obama has a flair for diplomacy.
