Michelle Obama to Moms: Stop Asking 'Can Women Have It All?'

The first lady, recent iVillage Guest Editor and mom of two weighs in on the "have it all" debate, as well as other topics such as whether Malia's dating in the White House (she's not!) and that book, 'Fifty Shades of Grey' that even the first family has talked about!

We love what First Lady Michelle Obama told us during our interview about that recent magazine article titled Why Women Still Can't Have It All. Mrs. Obama says we should stop asking ourselves the question in the first place.

"My message to women is: Be open. Give yourself a break. Stop thinking there is an answer to that question, 'Can women have it all?' Stop trying to answer it," the first lady and recent iVillage Guest Editor told us from her sofa in her East Wing office. "Just live your life and figure out what's in your heart and what do you need. And that will change every year, and you've got to be okay with that."

In our in-depth interview with Mrs. Obama, we also asked if Malia was dating (“We’re not in that territory yet"), if she’s ever had a mom crisis before (she has!), what she made of the fascination about the news that Malia and Sasha like to watch Keeping Up with the Kardashians and whether she’s read Fifty Shades of Grey (she hasn’t but has a great answer about why she thinks everyone’s talking about it.)

Let us know what you think about what Mrs. Obama said and our interview in general. We'd love to hear from you!
