Michelle Obama's Me Time: The Remote All to Herself!

The first lady, iVillage's Guest Editor for the week, says "me time" means watching what she wants to watch in her own room, workouts and time with her gal pals.

We received so many great questions from you for First Lady Michelle Obama. One of our favorites came from author and blogger Lela Davidson, one of our hilarious iVoices, who wondered what does "me time" look like for the first lady when she's constantly monitored? (She also asked if Mrs. Obama has to schedule time for sex with her hubby but I couldn't muster the courage to ask that!)

"It's tougher now but, you know, I'm not real complicated," Mrs. Obama told us during our hour-long exclusive mom-to-mom interview. "If I get a little down time, then my workout, I consider that me time. I consider just that time in my own room with my own TV, watching the one show I want to watch." When I asked what's that one show she wants to watch, she said that it didn't matter as long as it was her "choice" not Malia, Sasha or her husband's!

Girlfriend time is also "me time," said Mrs. Obama, and so are weekend getaways with her gal pals.  Party time? Hardly. The first lady admits that sadly she and her friends usually sleep through the movie they're watching those getaway weekend nights.  Oh, Mrs. Obama, we can totally relate!

What I also learned from Mrs. Obama is that even before she got to the White House, she was scheduling time for herself. "I've learned that you have to block out the time for you or else it will never happen," she added. Point well taken! Now off to my Outlook calendar I go to schedule some "me time."

Check back for tomorrow's video when the first lady talks candidly about the conversations she has with Malia, 14, and Sasha, 11, about body image.
