Those notes of support -- like ones you leave in your kids’ lunchboxes or your spouse’s suitcase before a business trip -- really do mean a lot. Even if you’re the first lady of the U.S.
After casting her Illinois absentee ballot by mail this morning, Michelle Obama tweeted: “Hey, @BarackObama, I just dropped my absentee ballot in the mail – I couldn’t wait for Election Day! Love you! –mo.”
The campaign also tweeted a photo (above) of the first lady smiling with her ballot.
The president followed: “I'm following @MichelleObama's example and voting early, on October 25. If your state has early voting, join me. -bo.” He included a link to early voting info and resources.
Barack and Michelle Obama are using their high-profile efforts as examples.
Many states now offer voters the opportunity to vote early in person or by mail, and the Obamas have been actively encouraging their supporters to do just that. After casting her ballot today, the first lady held rallies in Ohio to encouraging the early-voting option -- and voting period.
