Michelle Trachtenberg is no stranger to hair color mishaps—but there’s one film role in particular that had disastrous results. 'My hair is stripped platinum blond and orange in the front," the Weeds actress tells iVillage of her cringe-worthy style in the 2004 comedy EuroTrip. "That was not a cute look. I don't ever watch that movie but every once in a while I'll be flipping through the channels and I'm like 'ahhh, never go blonde.'"
So it wasn’t exactly surprising that the natural “dirty blonde” gravitated to a darker hue when she recently partnered with John Frieda for his new Precision Foam Colour line. "Brunette just sort of works for me and gives me that 'sophisticated but don't mess with me' attitude," she explains.
Despite it being the first time she dyed her own hair, the actress wasn’t the least bit nervous. “Honestly, I was really excited,” she explained of trusting that box's instructions would land her with the color she wanted.
A few simple steps and the verdict was in on her D.I.Y. job: “It was literally super easy – you put the gloves on, you put the foam in and it is exactly how I [look when] come out of the salon," she says, ultimately going with the deep chocolate 3N shade from the line. The best benefit of doing it herself? “I don't have to worry about my roots showing between episodes, so it was a big lifesaver.”
