Michelle Williams is finally in a happy place, and she owes a lot of that to Jason Segel. The Oz the Great and Powerful star has been basking in the adoration of her boyfriend and their fans since going public with the relationship in March.
"If people are happy about it that makes me feel good because in my head the opposite is often true -- that people fault or blame you for things," Williams, 32, tells InStyle. "That’s really painful. You wish they would just want you to be happy, for your kid to be happy, and for you to have a good life and do good work. Any kind sentiment that the world can feed back, well, I won’t turn it down."
We're thrilled that the duo is getting positive feedback, but how could any pop culture fan not feel great about Michelle and Jason's relationship? After all the actress has been through -- most notably, the tragic death of her daughter Matilda's father, Heath Ledger -- it's wonderful to see her so happy.
"The other day I was out there all bundled up and the sun was shining and I realized I was smiling in a way I hadn’t in a long time," she tells the magazine. “The roses in my cheeks weren’t from makeup for once. It was a perfect moment."
We bet there have been a lot of those moments lately. Jason is a terrific guy (not to mention sexy!), and he has the ultimate female stamp of approval: He was set up with Michelle by her best friend (and his former Freaks and Geeks castmate) Busy Philipps. The down-to-earth couple also seems to complement one another in all the right ways: She's serious and he's funny, she's a mom and he's great with kids. And you gotta love that adorable height difference (a whole foot!).
"I didn’t realize [Jason] was so tall," Michelle says of her 6’4" beau. "I thought, 'Hey, man, you’re cramping my style!' I tried wearing wedge heels for a while to compensate, but it wasn’t me and I just gave up."
Williams, who lives with Segel and 7-year-old Matilda in Brooklyn, says she's treasuring the moments she can spend at home with her loved ones.
"I cook and clean a lot these days," she admits. "I’m in a very domestic cycle, and I happen to love it. I feel like this is a real expression of my love for my daughter. Not the only one, but an important one."
