Patricia Heaton (Home Improvement) plays Frankie Heck an endearing, frenzied but loving mom living in recession-struck middle-America trying her best to raise three kids and work full time. She's just like every other mom trying to get through the day. She works at the only remaining car dealership in town and is having no luck getting any sales while husband Mike (Neil Flynn, Scrubs) manages the local quarry. Their kids, well, they're typical kids. Teenage Axl (Charlie McDermott) eats everything and doesn't like to wear clothes; daughter Sue (Eden Shur) is struggling to find something she is good at; and the youngest Brick (Atticus Shaffer) is a bit quirky. But like Frankie says they are a family and they eat dinner together every night even if it's take out in front of the TV.
