Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj & Katy Perry Being Considered as 'American Idol' Judges?

Fresh faces can be expected on 'Idol' next season considering none of the current judges have renewed their contracts yet

Don't get too comfortable with the current judges on American Idol. All three -- Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler -- have yet to renew their contracts. Just like last year, Lopez is openly hinting that she might not return. And sources tell E! that neither Jackson nor Tyler is a sure thing.

Meanwhile, FOX is looking at other stars who might replace them. "Producers are currently putting out feelers and setting up meetings to see who they can get," a source told E!. "We won't know if Randy and Steven are returning until they see who else is on board."

So who's being considered? As of now, the list includes Adam Lambert, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Fergie, Katy Perry and will.i.am.

Frankly, any 15-year-old could have come up with that list. It's merely a who's who of pop stardom right now. Clearly, any artist who's young, stylish and near the head of the Billboard Top 100 is probably attractive to Idol producers. And after Britney Spears scored a $15 million contract with The X Factor, a judging gig probably looks pretty good to pop stars, too. (Granted, Demi Lovato only got $1 million for her X Factor spot, but her next contract will be worth much more if viewers love her.)

Just listen to Lambert's reaction to the news that producers were interested in him (which he learned about during an interview with British radio station Capitol FM on Monday). "I'm just hearing about this today as well and so what a beautiful rumor," Lambert said. "Listen, if -- and I say 'if' with a capital I-F -- if they were to approach me and if they were to say, 'We want you to be a judge on the show,' I would love that. I would jump at the chance."

Producers are currently auditioning contestants for the twelfth season of Idol, which means the judging rounds will probably start soon. Cyrus and Perry seem more likely to get the job than Fergie or Minaj -- since their images are slightly more family-friendly. But they'd also probably come with a higher price tag. As for will.i.am, he's already a friend of the show, having acted as a mentor a number of times.

Meanwhile, there's a whole other parade of celebrities being considered for the hosting spot at The X Factor. At this early stage there are lots of names on that list. But how's this for a hosting duo: Mario Lopez and Khloe Kardashian! Yep, both are in consideration.
