'Millionaire Matchmaker': Patti Takes on Manhattan's Many Single Women

Patti Stanger heads to New York City to bring some love to the city's many millionairesses

"For over 10 years I've been called and begged by the single women of New York to come over and help them," says Patti Stanger, star of Bravo's The Millionaire Matchmaker (Tuesday, 9 p.m. ET). "And finally, I'm gonna do it."

Welcome to Matchmaker's Season 4, as Stanger brings her always blunt, sometimes harsh dating advice from L.A. to the Big Apple. "It's probably not gonna be about the men," she says of her new location. "It's gonna be about the millionairesses. Because there are a lot of women over 40 who never married."

This just may be her biggest challenge yet, considering this scary statistic: In the Manhattan dating scene, Stanger tells The New York Post, "[It's] five single women to every single man." (According to the New York Observer moving to a more guy-heavy city, like L.A., Phoenix, San Diego, Dallas or Seattle, might be cheaper than paying Stanger. But I digress.)

In Season 4's preview, Stanger is sitting with yet another clueless guy, trying to maintain her composure while dishing out the same, no-nonsense guidance she's been spoon-feeding people for years. Newly single herself, it must be trying for Stanger, meeting knucklehead after resistant knucklehead, four seasons in.

"You should have never moved in [with your girlfriend] in the first place without getting the kid option," she says, then sighs and draws in a big breath. "There are things called deal breakers," she says, her voicing rising with impatience. "'Do you want children?' She says no, you close the penis off, you put it back into your zippered pocket, and you get the f*&%& out of Dodge."

But due to the new setting, full of hard-driving, professional women, she's also offering some different sorts of advice. "I said to every millionairess, 'Do not plan your own date,'" she told the Post. "And every single one of them went ahead and planned her own dates."

Her clients this go-around include some familiar, if not famous, names -- like the publishing magnate Judith Regan and fellow Bravo semi-stars, Albie and Chris Manzo (the sons of Caroline from Bravo’s The Real Housewives of New Jersey).  And she incorporates some new, uh, methods, including spy cameras and a lie detector test.

Can Stanger inspire some sex in this city? Hopefully, but not until monogamy's been established. That's one of her deal breakers.

Do you think Patti will have a harder time making matches in NYC?
