Mindy Kaling and Reese Witherspoon Want to Work Together: The Top 5 Reasons They Should!

The two funny ladies say they're looking for the right project -- and we have suggestions for them!

Could a match made in comedy heaven be on the way? It turns out that Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling are dying to work together, and we'd love to see them try.

"[Reese] is a fan of my book which is a really nice thing. She wrote me a nice note about it," Kaling tells Us Weekly. "We want to work together; we're just trying to think of a good project."

So what would a collaboration between these two look like? Well, we have five hilarious (if we do say so ourselves) suggestions:

1. Kaling could play Witherspoon's best friend in a movie
Kaling already charmed our pants off playing Natalie Portman's friend/roommate in No Strings Attached, so why couldn't she do the same in a Reese Witherspoon movie? Witherspoon always has excellent supporting actresses by her side in her rom-coms, and Kaling seems like a perfect fit.

2. Witherspoon could play Kaling's rude shallow sister on The Mindy Project
If it worked on Friends, why can't it work on The Mindy Project? Of course, Witherspoon was a little more believable as Jennifer Aniston's sister than she would be as Kaling's, but that just adds to the comedy. Plus, it would be fun to see Witherspoon make a nod to one of our favorite roles she's played.

3. They could star in a buddy girl comedy
While Witherspoon and Kaling would likely work great in supporting roles in each others' projects, it also would be awesome to see the two of them star in something where they're equals. If Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy can star in a buddy comedy together, we don't get why Kaling and Witherspoon can't do the same.

4. They could write a book together
Since Witherspoon is such a fan of Kaling's book -- and Kaling does such a good job writing them -- why not have the two women team up and create something together? It could be a novel, non-fiction or just a picture book and we'd definitely still buy it.

5. They could develop a TV show pilot
TV is where all the action is nowadays, and Witherspoon seems to be trying to expand her role in Hollywood, so why not develop a pilot with Kaling? Kaling is already an experienced writer for television, and we have a feeling she and Witherspoon could come up with something pretty darn clever if they put their heads together.
