When it comes to men, Mindy Kaling definitely has a type -- and apparently it's similar to that of a teenage girl.
The star of FOX's new single-girl-looking-for-love comedy The Mindy Project, Kaling, 33, talked to Us Weekly about her taste in guys.
"I have taste in men like an adolescent girl," said Kaling, who the Fox sitcom's creator, writer and executive producer.
What does the former Office star mean exactly? "I embarrassingly love blond men -- hot pinups like Chris Evans and Chris Pine," she explained. "I feel like people expect me to have an edgy choice, like Justin Theroux, and I'm just like, 'Nope! I want Captain America!'"
And as for the similarities between Kaling and her OB-Gyn character Dr. Mindy Lahiri, she says:"We both have an encyclopedic knowledge of romantic Tom Hanks movies!" Whether they're both as equally as unlucky in love is unknown, but Kaling is just as single as her alter ego.
But not everything about real Mindy and fake Mindy is the same. Kaling insists she's a lot more of a goodie-goodie than her partying character.
"I'm a lot more square than her. I've never drank the way she does," the Office alum told Us. "I'm really a nerd. I go to bed pretty early. Even when I went to Dartmouth -- which is a pretty big drinking school -- I never took part in anything like that. I was too scared of my parents' reaction."
The Mindy Project, which costars Anna Camp, Chris Messina and Ed Weeks, airs Tuesdays at 9:30 p.m. on FOX.
