Expert review: The Mini Glider offers two added features over the Strider: foot pegs, giving your child a place to rest her feet once she starts to glide, and a back handbrake, which likely won't be used much (she probably won't be going too fast!) but can be used to teach another aspect of biking. The step-by-step assembly instructions are tricky so you may want to take the Mini Glider to a bike shop for assembly.

Why we love it: Small size; easy handlebar access; jazzy colors (red, blue and pink).

What we wish it had: Easier step-by-step assembly instructions.

Great for: The youngest riders—ages 2 to 4, with no previous experience on a bike with training wheels.

Bottom line: With fun colors and added features for beginners, the Mini Glider is a good fit for beginning riders (though you may need help with assembly).

What our parent tester thought:
"It helped my 2 and 4 year olds learn to balance better."

"It's a bit pricey to receive five stars from me and overall, I prefer a traditional bike with training wheels."

-- Jennifer, and her 2 and 4-year-old daughters, of Phoenix, Ariz.
