What a relief for Mira Sorvino who, after a very tough and dangerous pregnancy, gave birth to a healthy baby boy on June 22.
Holden Paul Terry Backus is just perfect -- but his mom's pregnancy was far from it.
After being out on bedrest due to placenta previa, Mira's months of laying still caused even more trouble. "I developed a blood clot (DVT) due to all the inactivity and had to be anti-coagulated for months to prevent a pulmonary embolism," the actress, 41, who's married to Chris Backus, said.
Then, when the day came to have the baby, things still didn't go smoothly.
"During the day we had some scary difficulties with the epidural, as I achieved almost no progress with the labor and then at night the placenta created problems again," she added.
But Mira and her beautiful boy persevered -- and the mom of (now) three is ecstatic.
"As soon as they placed him in my arms I knew it had all been worth it," she continued. "He is my miracle baby. With everything that threatened this pregnancy and both of our lives, he came out of it completely unscathed: perfectly healthy, beautiful and wonderful."
Love a happy ending. Congrats!
