Why you should see it: Director Spike Lee's tale begins with a New York City postal worker committing murder, which is tied to the heroic act of a group of African-American soldiers who found themselves trapped by German soldiers in an Italian village during World War II.
Box office bottom line: Lee made a big fuss earlier this year about the lack of black soldiers in Flags of Our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima, Clint Eastwood's WWII movies, but he's riled Italians with this take on their history during WWII. Will the controversies lead to ticket sales? Or are moviegoers uninterested in yet another war story, even if it does weave in a modern-day murder case and a story line based on a unique slice of WWII history?
