For Alicia Keys, lessons in becoming an empowered woman started at home. The singer says that her mom, Terri Augello, was "absolutely" a role model for her and "definitely the reason I am who I am." One of the biggest lessons she learned from her? Empathy! "She always taught me to think about [how something] would make you feel," says the singer, who shared that her single mother always taught the importance of the golden rule: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Keys says, "She would call me out on it and she would challenge me on it."
