Here We Go Again: More Sextuplets on TV

A third reality show about sextuplets hits the airwaves. Have we had enough?

Hey, here's a novel idea! How about a reality show about a family with sextuplets?

What's that? There already was such a show -- a spectacularly overexposed TLC series called Jon & Kate Plus 8? Which, now that you mention it, is still chugging along (minus Jon)? And there's also a knock-off of that show, currently airing on WEtv, called Raising Sextuplets?

Well, then, how about a third one? TLC will premiere Sextuplets Take New York -- which chronicles the first Latino sextuplets -- on Sept. 14. The exhausted couple is Victor and Digna Carpio of Queens. They have a 9-year-old son, Jhancarlos, and a 22-month-old six-pack, Justin, Jezreel, Joel, Jaden, Danella and Genesis.

The family was featured in a Discovery Health special that chronicled their extremely premature birth -- each baby was between one and two pounds -- and their miraculous recovery. (All were eventually released from the NICU in good condition.)

In one striking way, this sextuplet story seems different from the two already on TV: The Carpio's are in a much lower tax bracket.

"The bills continue to pile up. The big expenses -- $5,000 for electricity, money for baby food and all those diapers -- can be tough to cover on the $900 biweekly salary 35-year-old Victor makes as a maintenance worker," reports the New York Daily News. "Two nurses from the Visiting Nurses of New York help the parents care for the babies. But once they leave at 6 p.m., both Digna and Victor know sleep will be a luxury."

"I don't want to get overwhelmed," Digna told the newspaper. "I'm already thinking I'm going to need a van or a bus to take them to school."

But if the couple can replicate the Gosselins' ratings success, their financial woes are over. Kate Gosselin is earning $250,000 per episode of Kate Plus 8, according to TV Guide's recent article on TV's top earners. And that's not to mention the $100,000 per episode she made on Dancing with the Stars, as reported by Popeater. So dust off your dancing shoes, Carpio family. Here comes your pay day. Just try not to break up, okay?
