Morrissey, the '80s heartthrob and former lead singer of The Smiths, collapsed on stage during a performance in England on Saturday.

The singer, now 50, experienced breathing difficulties while singing "This Charming Man," and suddenly slumped over on stage. He had to be carried off by two band members, as an audience of about 1,000 people looked on. After about 25 minutes, the concertgoers were told that Morrissey had been taken to the hospital to be treated.

"Everybody started booing, thinking 'here we go again,'" audience member Mark Taylor told London's The Sunday Telegraph. "He has a bit of a poor track record for cancelling his concerts."

"Morrissey became unwell, and he was admitted overnight as a precautionary measure," a hospital spokeswoman said in a statement. "He's been seen by the medical team, much improved and now discharged home."
