Mosquito

Everyone knows mosquito bites are small red bumps, but some people are super-sensitive and react more severely. "Children may have an especially intense reaction with bumps as large as a half-dollar," says  Dr. Millikan. "And it's easy for these to get infected if kids keep digging at them."

What to do: Use an over-the-counter antihistamine such as Claritin to control itching or try a topical anti-itch cream containing Pramoxine Hydrochloride 1% and menthol and camphor (such as Sarna or Pramox). An ice pack or cool compress may alleviate itching, too. If necessary, cover with a bandage to prevent scratching.
