Synopsis: A retelling of Beauty and the Beast, set in a modern-day high school, where Manhattan elitism and teen romance drive the plot. Kyle (Alex Pettyfer) is too vain and self-absorbed to pay much attention to Lindy (Vanessa Hudgens) or anyone else for that matter. That is until Kendra (Mary-Kate Olsen), the freaky, social outcast, Goth girl casts a spell on him, turning him into a bald, ugly, scarred, tattooed version of his former self, as punishment for his vanity and pride. To break the cures Kyle must find someone who can still love him by the year’s end or remain a monster forever. Deserted by his ashamed father, Kyle abandons his former life to live in seclusion, changes his name and gives up on breaking the curse. Then, through Lindy, Kyle begins to see himself -- and others -- differently, finding hope and possibly love.
Quote: “I’ve been thinking about letters recently. The real kind, long hand. And how terrible it is that nobody’s writing them any more. And so I decided to start one to you today. And, I’m going to write to you everyday, for a long, long time. Because I think I might be in danger of falling in love with you.” - Kyle
Real Life Swoonfactor: Knowing our favorite candy or flower, reading poetry, or writing long love letters might be old-fashioned notions of romance, but there is nothing more attractive than someone who wants to take the time to really get to know us. Rating: 4 out of 5 hearts.
