Move to "big girl" bed?

When is the best time to move my daughter to a "big girl" bed?

Question:

A child is ready to move to a big bed when they are no longer comfortable in a crib. Here are some signs: your daughter keeps crawling out of her crib; she complains that she doesn't want to sleep in a crib anymore; she usually stays dry at night.

I would not personally move a child into a bed before the age of two. Before that time, a child can use the comfort of a crib's surrounding sides. But after that age, a bed (with a safety rail if necessary) is a very good step towards growing up.
