In a Nutshell: Produced by Tim Burton, this visually exciting post-apocalyptic sci-fi animated feature finds the sympathetic burlap-sack puppet named 9 (voice of Elijah Wood) joining a handful of similar doll-like beings in their battle to survive on a planet dominated by violent machines that have already wiped out the humans.
Why We Can't Wait: This grim dystopia is perfect for older kids -- particularly boys, 13 and older, accustomed to playing video and computer games -- because it's one long dark chase scene punctuated by cartoonish violence.
Rated: PG-13
Age Clearance: Fine for adventurous kids 13+. Don't let littler kids convince you otherwise.
