The Movies Brittany Murphy Left Behind

When a star dies young, they often leave behind a body of unfinished work. Marilyn Monroe made about a third of the movie Something's Gotta Give before her death; Heath Ledger had not yet completed filming The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Brittany Murphy, the latest star to fall too soon, was working hard before her death; she actually left behind 4 completed films. Here are the unreleased movies that Brittany Murphy fans will still be able to see in theaters:

Abandoned - In this indie thriller, Murphy plays a woman whose husband (Dean Cain) goes into surgery... and doesn't come out. When she finds the hospital has no record of him, Murphy becomes caught up in a deadly conspiracy. You can watch the trailer here.

Something Wicked - Another thriller, this one about a young couple whose lives are turned upside down when the girl's parents are killed. It hasn't been announced what role Murphy is playing, but she's got top billing.

The Expendables - In what promises to be the biggest action film of 2010 (as we've noted, it has the best cast ever), Murphy will be playing Mickey Rourke's girlfriend, a singer.

Shrinking Charlotte - A romantic comedy about three screwed-up single men who all fall in love with the same woman in therapy -- without realizing her true identity. Murphy's in the title role as Charlotte, and the supporting cast includes Matthew Lillard, Kathleen Turner and Fred Willard. However, since this one just went into production in October, we're not sure if the movie was finished before Murphy's death.

Hard-core Murphy fans may also want to check out her last movie, Ramen Girl, which was released straight to DVD. It's streaming for free right now on Netflix.
