Who wouldn't want a bunch of penguins as household pets? In Mr. Popper's Penguins, one family decides on the answer after receiving two surprise shipments of the adorable birds from Antarctica. Besides changing the setting from 1930s suburbia to present-day New York City, the heart of the film remains the same as the 1938 children's book by Richard and Florence Atwater. In a family-friendly but no less wacky role, Jim Carrey plays successful realtor Tom Popper Jr., who goes from trying to bowl one of the penguins down his hallway to choreographing a dance with all six of them! The studio used both live animals and CGI technology to create the enigmatic penguins that should inspire kids around the country to switch penguin for puppy on their wish lists.
