MTV Movie Awards 2010: Everything You Need to Know

Get caught up before the 2010 MTV Movie Awards this Sunday at 9 p.m.

The 2010 MTV Movie Awards will air live this Sunday (June 6, 9 p.m. ET), which means that right now, MTV's marketing department is in overdrive. The channel pulls out all the stops -- funny promos, red-carpet casting coups, sneak peeks at unreleased films -- to make the broadcast a true pop-culture treat. Here are some of the high jinks and hype swirling around this year's installment.

1.   MTV and its website are showing half a dozen frisky promos with host Aziz Ansari (NBC's Parks and Recreation) and/or some of the A-list presenters and nominees. The most talked about one: Tom Cruise -- as his Tropic Thunder character Les Grossman -- going ballistic on Robert Pattinson. Grossman also tries to intimidate Taylor Lautner. And in yet another promo, he tells off his old alter ego, Joel Goodsen, in a reworked scene from 1983's Risky Business.

2.   Sandra Bullock is scheduled to appear at the ceremony to receive an MTV Generation Award, which marks her first public appearance since the revelations about her husband's affairs. She's also up for awards for her film The Blind Side, including Best Kiss and Best Female Performance.

3.   MTV's biggest star -- yes, that would be Jersey Shore's Snooki -- will work the red carpet as a guest correspondent. And during the Movie Awards Pre-Show, viewers will also be treated to the first ten minutes of Jersey Shore's second season.

4.  It's a given that Eclipse, the third installment of the scarily popular vampire franchise The Twilight Saga will dominate. Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner will all introduce an exclusive clip of the sequel, out June 30. This works out quite nicely, since they'd be there anyway: They've all received nods for last year's New Moon -- including best movie, best female performance (Stewart), best male performance (Pattinson and Lautner), best kiss (Stewart and Pattinson) and global superstar (Stewart, Pattinson and Lautner).

5.   As for the movies themselves, The Hangover received the most nominations, with six. Avatar and New Moon got five each. See below for the big categories.
