The complex flavor of this hot punch is surprisingly simple to achieve. Just simmer cider and cranberry juice on the stove, add some spices and fresh orange slices, and let time do the rest of the work. Double or triple the recipe for a large group, and you’ve got an instant crowd pleaser.
|3 cups apple cider||6 whole star anise|
|3 cups cranberry juice||1 2-inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and sliced into rounds|
|1/2 cup light brown sugar||1 orange, sliced|
|5 cinnamon sticks|
Combine all ingredients in a pan, and bring to a boil. Lower to a simmer and leave on the heat, uncovered, for at least 15 minutes. Serve warm in mugs.
