Spook Factor: In this fantasy adventure, the mix of swaggering Rick O'Connell (Brendan Fraser) and his ability to dispatch any dangers that comes his way, and the continual use of comic relief, break the tension. Still, those voracious mummies are scary and the single-minded villain Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo), who awakes from the dead as grumpy as a toddler from a nap, has the potential to follow little children into their nightmares.
