It’s the time of year when we are dressing up to go to holiday parties, formal office dinners and New Year’s Eve is right around the corner. The prefect accessory for this time of the year is a must for anyone’s shopping list and my “Pick of the Week”: The Clutch.We love our handbags and purses. We carry our lives around in them, (Everything from makeup to an extra pair of shoes, our credit cards to our phones.) But on a night out we don’t want to be lugging around a big handbag. We just want to take the essentials. So a clutch can be the perfect accessory to that little black dress or the gown that we are wearing to our holiday parties.
There are many different varieties of clutches: big and small, fabric, leather or metallic. The possibilities are endless. You can go simple with a basic black or perhaps one with a small jewel at the clasp (as shown). There are many great exotic leather clutches that you can use to really jazz up your look in such textures as crocodile or ostrich. They can be over-sized or in the traditional smaller style. You can even go for a gold or silver metallic that will be a great contrast to that wild print maxi dress. I particularly love the “Mirror Miniaudieres” which are simple and elegant metallic clutches that will go with those pretty shoes you just bought yourself on sale.
We also love the clutches that have either a hidden chain or strap inside. So when the opportunity strikes you can use it. When you are holding a glass of champagne in one hand and a tiny canapé plate in the other your clutch can hang on your arm! Later, you can either hold it by the chain or just tuck it back inside!
A clutch is a key accessory that will help you accent your style and turn your look into something special. You can go old school and feel like Audrey Hepburn or Jackie-O as you hold on tightly to your little clutch as you enter the party and greet all of your friends. Or you can be more contemporary and hold your clutch with your index finger extended along the top as your point it towards the floor.
Clutches are a great gift idea. You will use it over and over again and it will never go out of style. Plus your significant other will not have to worry if it will fit. They will know that you will get a lot of use out of it this holiday season and many more holiday seasons to come. So drop some hints now so you can have a new clutch for all the holiday parties this season.
