My Pick of the Week: Soak--The Perfect Way to Care for Your Fine Washables

Soak Wash BottlesMy Pick of the Week has nothing to do with clothing this week. Instead it has everything to do with keeping your intimate apparel fresh around long enough to make it worth the big bucks. Soak is the best product on the market to keep your delicates delicate.

I had the pleasure to meet the owner and founder of Soak, Jacqueline Sava. She was kind enough to answer several questions about her company and her products. Everyone at Lee Lee’s Valise has fallen in love with this product and we thought it only fair to share it with the readers of NeverSayDiet.

What is Soak?

Soak is a pure, gentle and deliciously scented way to hand or machine-wash the delicate items you care about most. Soak is designed with fabric-friendly ingredients that revitalize fibers so they look great and last longer. Just Soak and squeeze and your garments will stay clean and fresh.

What inspired you to start you own business?

When I was a knitwear designer, our customers often asked us how they could best take care of their knits. That led them to ask about their other fine washables--cashmeres, lingerie, quilts and embellished projects. They have a modern take on life, so we decided to offer them a modern approach to fine fiber care, too. We developed a premium, no-rinse wash solution that works with delicates and anything else people care about enough to hand wash. Now, Soak is distributed internationally and is the leader in delicate washes.

Why would someone want to use your product? (Instead of a more familiar commercial product such as Woolite)

Soak is a premium, no-rinse wash solution.  If you’ve ever spent time trying to rinse out one of those other detergents, you’ll understand why we created a no-rinse solution for delicate fibers.

Soak is also made with high quality ingredients. Soak is so gentle, you could take a bath in it.  It’s as gentle on your hands as it is on your fibers.

Each fragrance leaves a hint of freshness (we promise, no overwhelming perfumes) on the item after it has been washed.  When customers were asked to compare Soak to other fine fabric washes, they found our scents to be more delicate, fresher, cleaner and milder than current market leaders.

Soak is biodegradable, phosphate-free, non-toxic and dye-free.  We use a recyclable label substrate and water-based, environmentally safe inks.   Our bottles are recyclable and we strive to align all of our business practices with our environmental policy.

What would I use my Soak product for?

It is perfect for washing your laciest lingerie, softest sweaters, vintage quilts and even baby clothes. It is also very popular with crafters (such as quilters and knitters) for their hand-made creations.  Soak is also suited to swimwear, workout wear or anything you’d wash in the machine on the delicate cycle.

Where can I purchase Soak?

Soak can be purchased in lingerie store, fine boutiques, yarn and craft stores as well as select department stores across North America. Soak is also available in the UK, Japan and Australia. Visit Soakwash.com for retailers.
