Nadya Suleman to Appear on MTV Prank Show 'Silent Library'

Octomom is popping up on a cable-TV comedy series, but is she the butt of the joke?

How would you react if you walked into a quiet library and saw Octomom Nadya Suleman giving birth? That's the situation some poor college kid will be in when Suleman guest-stars on the nutty MTV series Silent Library -- a show which requires six friends to endure a series of ridiculous challenges and pranks, all while remaining absolutely silent. Celebs often appear as contestants (Justin Bieber competed in the season premiere) or as part of a challenge (like this hilarious surprise appearance by porno has-been Ron Jeremy).

The mom of octuplets and six other children is in that second category, reportedly helping perpetrate a stunt that involves a hospital bed and a birth scene. "It was the most fun she has had doing something like that," the famous mom's rep told RadarOnline.

No doubt Suleman's appearance will draw the usual barrage of criticism about her attention-seeking choices. Some critics are already dredging up quotes from last month's Oprah interview, during which she said, "I have been ashamed of myself for going through certain, let's say, media outlets to provide for my children." However, Suleman also defended her rationale in that same interview: "If I were to secure something in the media, I could in 20 minutes make what I could make in two months working 9-to-5 and being away all the time... It's a double-edged sword."

Frankly, that seems like a fair point. With all those mouths to feed, we can't really slam her for taking media opportunities like Silent Library and her recent American Idol Gives Back appearance, which require her to poke fun at herself -- and don't require the kids to appear on camera. If Suleman is dependent on reality TV to keep bills paid, this kind of gig seems like the lesser of two evils (the other being a Jon-and-Kate-style show focused on her children, which she's surely been offered). Whether you chuckle at her, or judge her  choice to create such a large brood of children, we think the Octomom may be learning to make smart decisions.
