Naomi Campbell: 'I Will Not Be Held Hostage to My Past'

The limousine driver who accused Naomi Campbell of attacking him in New York City this week has decided not to press charges against the supermodel. Miodrag Mejdina, 27, told the Associated Press that he "got angry and overreacted" and was sorry he called the police.

On Tuesday, Mejdina called police and claimed that Campbell, 39, slapped and punched him from behind while he drove her in New York City, causing him to hit his head on the steering wheel. He said his eye was slightly bruised.

But Mejdina now says, "This whole thing has been blown out of proportion, and I apologize to Ms. Campbell for causing that to happen."

In a statement to Us Weekly, Campbell said she doesn't want to be judged by her checkered past and her reputation as a diva with major anger-management issues: "On Tuesday, March 2nd, I was accused of unacceptable behavior towards a driver in New York. I have worked very hard on correcting my previous wrongdoings and I will not be held hostage to my past. I try to treat everyone with respect and I am pleased the driver has apologized. I would like to put the last few days behind me and move on."
