Natalie's year of Oscar and Golden Globe Awards started with a very different kind of nomination: a Do Something Award nod for her charity work. In June 2010, Portman was recognized for her role in launching FINCA's Village Banking Campaign, which brings financial resources to the world's poorest families. But the actress's good deeds don't end there: she is also a passionate supporter of hunger relief, animal rights (she is a well-known vegan), environmental causes and peace in the Middle East. Throughout her whirlwind year, Portman never put her charity work on the back burner. During the height of her Oscar campaign, she was raising funds for Free the Children to open a girls' school in Kenya and even donated the Rodarte dress (pictured here) that she wore to the American Film Institute Film Festival premiere of BlackSwan on Nov. 11, 2010, to the cause.
