A National Lunch Break

There's so much talk about energy policy in the news, but most of it is on a national or global scale. One organization wants to focus instead on personal energy. In particular, they want you to take a real lunch break to up your energy and boost productivity. And they want your company on board, too.

The Energy Project has just launched a website and movement to "fuel sustainable personal energy." Every Wednesday throughout the summer, they're hosting Take Back Your Lunch, a collective lunch break that encourages workers to flip off their computers, grab a meal, and head to a designated public park to commune with other hungry, workaday humans. The first event, or "meet-up," took place June 23rd at Madison Square Park in New York City.

A You Tube video further explains the concept, and why taking a midday break with other real, live people is good both for our souls and our ability to do our jobs well.

According to the Project, it will allow us to meet our four key needs: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.

So, have lunch. Shouldn't be too hard, right?  To find a meet-up near you and get involved, visit The Energy Project’s events page here.
