Last fall, Neil Patrick Harris became a dad when he and partner David Burtka welcomed fraternal twins Harper Grace and Gideon Scott into the world via a surrogate. But while the actor -- now starring in the animated film The Smurfs (in theaters July 29) -- loves tweeting about his 9-month-old daughter and son, he reveals to iVillage that he wishes he had more time to hang out with them.
"I regret sometimes how hard I'm having to work," the 38-year-old actor admitted to iVillage correspondent and comedian Judy Gold recently. "I wish I could just spend a month with them doing nothing."
On the subject of marriage, though Harris and Burtka haven't walked down the aisle yet, he's excited that they can legally tie the knot now that same-sex marriage is legal in New York. "Huzzah!" he exclaims. And Glee actress Jayma Mays, 32, who stars opposite Harris in The Smurfs, reveals that she "instantly" knew that her husband of four years, British actor Adam Campbell, was the one after meeting up in a hair-and-makeup trailer. "How classy is that?" she jokes.
Watch our exclusive video interview to hear why Harris and Mays' little blue costars were so awful to work with and find out why Harris nicknamed his costar Competition Smurf.
