In light of its impending release and last night's premiere, the New Moon buzz is coming at us fast and furiously.
The cast of New Moon walked the red carpet on Monday night to the screams of thousands of fans who'd gathered outside the venue just to get a glimpse of the stars. The Entertainment Weekly Hollywood Insider blog reports that the notoriously tomboyish Kristen Stewart actually donned some designer duds from Oscar De La Renta for the affair, but changed to her signature jeans and T-shirt for the after party. Except for a few photo ops, the actress "kept a safe distance" from rumored love interest Robert Pattinson.
People.com got a few moments of Robert, Taylor Lautner and Kristen's time as they made their way into the event. Kristen said that though she's not big on the fuss surrounding her as a rising movie star, it's her love of acting that keeps her coming back.
"This is what you work for," she said. "Not the attention, but the fact that you can have a common interest."
Ryan Seacrest twittered his way through the premiere, and shared the somewhat surprising news that even a big name such as himself occasionally makes spelling errors (it's Pattinson, with an N, Seacrest!) and sometimes gets his interview privileges revoked.
"Robert pattison is class act however the rep he was with yanked him off the air and off the mic when when I asked about kristen. Unreal!"
Twilight fans adore R-Patz as Edward Cullen, but he wasn't always slated for the role. Kellan Lutz, who plays Emmett in the series, revealed that he might have had Robert's gig if things were a little different.
"I was doing [HBO'S] Generation Kill and was sent the script in Africa," Lutz told Ryan Seacrest during his radio show on Monday. "I put it off, then finally read it and by the time I got back to L.A., they said, 'OK, are you ready to audition for Edward?' I said, 'I don't want to play Edward. He's too complex, too depressing for me.'"
And that's your latest dose of New Moon juice. We're sure there'll be more in the coming days and weeks, as the Twilight mania shows no signs of subsiding.
