New Test Lets Men Check Their Sperm Count from Home

It seems like you can test just about everything at home with the help of some drugstore kit these days: monitor your fertility, see if you're pregnant, even see if he really is the father! And if you're having trouble getting pregnant, soon you'll be able to check your partner's sperm count (or, well, he will) right from the comfort of your own bathroom, too.

ABC News reports that SpermCheck Fertility, a kit that tests sperm concentration (sperm per millimeter) in 10 minutes using just a few drops of semen, has received FDA approval. Couples will be able to purchase it online in July and in pharmacies later this year for about $21 to $29. And makers say it's over 95 percent accurate when it comes to the range of your guy's sperm concentration, whether it's normal (over 20 million sperm per milliliter), subfertile (between 2 and 20 million) or infertile (less than 2 million).

Sure, this falls under the category of "weird things you can test from home," but using it could give some couples an early clue as to which partner should seek medical treatment. And with the under-$30 price tag, it certainly doesn't hurt to try. Just be sure to have the results corroborated by your man's doctor -- with this or any other at-home kit!
