Nick Arrojo: Hairstylist, Arrojo Studio

Nick Arrojo - guest coach for the iVillage Hair Makeover Community Challenge - is paving the way for a new era in the world of hairdressing. A master hairstylist and founder of Arrojo Studio, Nick is often recognized from his work as a makeover expert on seven seasons of the hit TV show What Not To Wear. He is also internationally renowned for his signature razor-cutting technique, and beauty empire which encompasses his NYC studio, over 100 ambassador salons, a product line and a celebrated educational program.

After 20 years working as a stylist and creative director for a variety of celebrated hair care brands, Nick opened his own salon in SoHo in 2001. Arrojo Studio is a custom-built salon and award-winning hairdressing brand dedicated to world-class services. Over the last ten years Nick expanded the salon to include more than 100 employees. On May 1st, Nick and his team of stylists launched the ARROJO American Wave System nationally. This exclusive professional wave- and texture- enhancing service uses ionic technology to create a range of customized styles from cascading beachy waves to expanded textures and full-blown curls. Setting it apart from past hair treatments, the American Wave is thio- and ammonia- free, and uses a setting lotion that seeps into the hair shaft without causing dryness, damage or unpleasant odors.

In 2007 Nick also created his own line of over 25 professional-grade products to cleanse, condition, style & finish hair. The Arrojo Product collection is youthful and modern, and aims to give fuss-free and simple hair solutions. The line’s newest launches include the ReFinish Dry Shampoo, and the Curl Enhancer.

Nick is committed to using the expertise of his salon’s hairdressers to provide advanced education to their peers. The salon operates an in-house Cosmetology school producing stylists with a phenomenal skill set trained directly under Nick himself. The ‘Arrojo Academy’ also offers a variety of seminars to interested stylists covering different aspects of successful, contemporary hairstyling. Nick also travels the country for the Goldwell cut and color academies and the Empire Beauty School to share his knowledge.
