Nick Jonas is putting his usual family values on hold. The pop star and Jonas Brothers member has signed on to play a deadbeat dad on the Tim Allen sitcom Last Man Standing, TV Line reports.
Jonas, 19, will play Ryan, the absentee father of Mike Baxter (Allen)'s 2-year-old grandson, in the ABC comedy's upcoming Christmas episode. Ryan appears on Mike's doorstep to beg forgiveness for abandoning his daughter -- but will Mike have anything to say except, "Bah, humbug"?
Sure, Jonas wouldn't be the first actor to come to mind when casting a guy who deserted his pregnant teenage girlfriend -- after all, in real life he's pledged not to have sex until he's married. But all Disney Channel stars have to break away from the squeaky-clean roles at some point. (Just ask Nick's ex-girlfriend Miley Cyrus, whose girl-gone-bad film LOL hits theaters this spring.) Fittingly, Jonas' Last Man Standing baby mama is played by Alexandra Krosney, another veteran of Disney Channel original movies. (She appeared in 2006's Read It and Weep).
It looks like the youngest Jonas brother will be busy for the next couple months. In addition to his Last Man Standing role, he's guest-starring on NBC's upcoming musical drama Smash. And in January, he'll be taking over for Daniel Radcliffe as the lead in Broadway's How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. On top of all that, he's juggling a relationship with 27-year-old Australian singer Delta Goodrem. No wonder Jonas wanted to take the role of a deadbeat dad: He probably wonders what it feels like to be a slacker!
