Making Fun of Taylor Swift Is a Little Old, Nick Lachey

The 98 Degrees singer warns boy bands not to date the pop star -- but that tired joke's not really funny anymore

You're a little late to the making-fun-of-Taylor Swift party, Nick Lachey. The 98 Degrees singer was recently asked what advice he and his reunited bandmates have for other boy bands out there, and his answer was something along the lines of, "Don't go near that girl."

"And stay away from Taylor Swift. She'll write a song about you...Oh! I'm too late on that one," he jokes to MTV News. "I didn't get to [that advice] fast enough. [The song will] be a hit, but it will be about you."

Okay, ha ha, Taylor Swift has dated Joe Jonas and Harry Styles. And she likes to sing about her breakups. But come on -- 39-year-old Lachey never wrote a breakup song or two when he and pop star ex-wife Jessica Simpson split? He clearly knew he was rehashing old material by making fun of Swift, 23, but did it anyway -- and his joke wasn't even very funny.

Swift is not involved with anyone at the moment and is instead concentrating on her tour, which might help the media frenzy over her love-life die down. "I've kind of realized that I have no idea where I'm going to be next year, or in six months, or in two months. I mean, I know where I'll be on tour in two months, but no idea where I'm going to be mentally, emotionally, dreams, goals, wishes, hopes," Swift told Wonderland magazine. "I have no idea if I'm going to get married or be single forever or have a family or just be on my own. You know, paint in a cottage by the ocean by myself."

So can everyone -- including someone random like Lachey -- lay off already? At least until Swift releases a single about dreamy watercolor landscapes.
