Terminator 3 actor Nick Stahl, who was reported missing last week, has re-emerged and checked himself into a rehab program. According to his wife Rose, who informed the police of his disappearance, Stahl had been "really working hard" at his sobriety before he went missing on May 9.
"He wants to be well," Rose told E! News on Friday. "He's a good man and we want him home so we can help him."
Drugs were assumed to be involved in the disappearance of Stahl, 32, who had a history of substance abuse and had reportedly been hanging around Los Angeles's sketchy Skid Row neighborhood. Last week, after the news broke that he was missing, two sources reported that they had seen Stahl outside a West Hollywood apartment complex. Then, late on Friday night, the actor sent an "unemotional and unapologetic email" to friends confirming that he was okay and announcing his plans to enter rehab. The email gave no explanation as to why he went missing.
"I'm relieved," Rose, 30, told People on Saturday. "But I'm also skeptical that he is really in rehab."
Fortunately, he stayed true to his word and checked into a 30-day treatment program, which Rose confirmed to E! News on Sunday.
Back in February, Rose filed court papers saying that she and Nick were separated, and that he was forbidden from seeing their toddler daughter if he failed a drug test. But Rose tells People that they're still very much together, and the court filing was "an adult, loving decision that we made to try to inspire his recovery and maybe even scare him away from relapse."
For her part, Rose says that she's "elated" that her husband is back and hopes that he can conquer his demons. "Now that he is safe, it's time to focus back on healing," she says. Hopefully rehab will be effective this time; it sounds like Nick Stahl's family has been through enough.
