Nicole Kidman: Fame from Marriage to Tom Cruise Was "Really Strange"

It's been just over a month since Tom Cruise finalized his divorce from Katie Holmes -- and now his previous ex-wife, Nicole Kidman, is opening up about her own experiences with the famous actor.

In the latest issue of Harper's Bazaar, Kidman says she found all the fame she received for her 10-year marriage to Cruise "overwhelming and really strange."

When Kidman married Cruise in 1990, she was a Aussie import and began what she now calls her "fame by association" period. "It was like, 'I'm here and I'm clutching onto your arm, and it all feels a little overwhelming and really strange,'" she tells Bazaar. "And I was shy. Deeply shy. I didn't feel comfortable at all. But I felt very comfortable at home."

The couple adopted two children, Isabella, now 19, and, Connor, 17, and later divorced in 2001. Kidman tells Bazaar that after the split she rededicated herself to acting.

"I started to do what I've been doing since I was 14, with some gravitas," she says.

Kidman also described her marriage to her current husband, country star Keith Urban. The couple, who met in 2005, have been married for six years and have two daughters -- Sunday, 4, and Faith, 22 months.

"He just gave me confidence," she says of the fellow Aussie. "Through just being very kind to me and understanding me, opening me up to trying things, my sexuality, those sorts of things."
