American Idol got double the star power when it signed up country sensation Keith Urban to be a judge. That's because the Aussie singer's wife Nicole Kidman is also going to be hanging around while her husband listens, mentors and judges the contestants.
Kidman, 45, confirmed to Idol host Ryan Seacrest that she'll be cheering on Urban's debut as judge (along with Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Randy Jackson) from the wings when it airs next year.
"Yeah! Next year I'll be there," she told Seacrest on the Emmys red carpet on Sunday. Kidman was in attendance, because she was nominated for outstanding leading actress in a mini-series or movie for her turn in HBO's Hemingway and Gellhorn. (She lost to fellow HBO biopic actress Julianne Moore.)
For the rest of 2012, however, the Oscar winner will be traveling around the world for an upcoming film role.
"This year I'm in France. I'm playing Grace Kelly, actually," she explained. The actress is set to play the late actress-turned-princess in the biopic Grace of Monaco. So the prospect of hanging out in Los Angeles -- where the Emmys took place and Idol is shot -- poses a worrisome outcome for her transformation.
"I'm gonna get sunburned. I should be pale!" she said.
Meanwhile, her hubby, 44, is happy to be able to spend time with Seacrest on the Idol set. "I'm very glad you're there," he told the show's host. "I'm glad Randy's there. It's a good comfort level!"
American Idol's new season premieres on Fox in January 2013.
